In their bosom they are holding a few white dressed souls. More righteous are standing in the background. This subject, which is also often integrated in Russian presentations of the Last Judgement, is based on Matthew 8,11-12: &#8222;Many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at  the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.
