Apostel Thomas ihren G\u00fcrtel reicht.<\/p>\n<p>Nach der Legende stirbt die Gottesmutter und wird von den Aposteln begraben. Nach drei Tagen steigt sie in den Himmel auf, das Grab bleibt leer zur\u00fcck. Thomas war bei der Bestattung nicht anwesend, findet das leere Grab vor, glaubt aber nicht an ihre Auferstehung. Daraufhin f\u00e4llt der G\u00fcrtel Mariens vom Himmel herab und Thomas ist \u00fcberzeugt.<\/p>\n<p>Der G\u00fcrtel wurde -gem\u00e4\u00df der \u00dcberlieferung- von Maria selbst aus Kamelhaar gefertigt. Er wurde in Jerusalem aufbewahrt, im 5. Jahrhundert nach Konstantinopel \u00fcberf\u00fchrt und dort in den Reliquienschatz der Blachernenkirche aufgenommen. W\u00e4hrend der Regierungszeit von Leo VI. (886-912) soll die Gemahlin des Kaisers, Zoe, durch ihn von schwerer Krankheit geheilt worden sein. Als Dank umstickte die Kaiserin den ganzen G\u00fcrtel mit einem Goldfaden und gab ihm so sein heutiges Aussehen. Im 12. Jahrhundert wurde der G\u00fcrtel geraubt, seit dem 14. Jahrhundert befindet er sich im Vatopedi-Kloster auf dem Berg Athos.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">The very rare icon shows the ascending Mother of God giving her cinture to the apostle Thomas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">According to the tradition, at the time of her Dormition the Theotokos was buried by the apostles. Three days later the Mother of God ascended into Heaven, her grave remained empty. The apostle Thomas, who had been delayed and unable to attend the funeral, arrived and asked to have one last look at Mary. When he\u00a0 arrived at her tomb, he found that her body was missing, but he couldn&#8217;t believe in her resurrection. At that time\u00a0 her belt (cincture) was falling down from heaven and Thomas believed.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Traditionally, the cincture was made by the Virgin Mary herself, out of camelhair. It was kept at Jerusalem for many years, until it was translated to Constantinople in the 5th century and deposited in the Church of St. Mary at Blachaerne. This relic was embroidered with gold thread by the Empress Zoe, the wife of Emperor Leo VI. (in gratitude for a miracleous cure).
